Sue’s testimonial describes pretty well the process we went through to review and update her website content. Her initial content attempts were really underselling how fabulous her services really were. When it comes to writing about ourselves I suspect many of us (especially Aussies) are afraid of ‘tall poppy’ syndrome, not wanting to look like we are too ‘up ourselves’ and sometimes it isn’t until someone else ‘gets’ us and can explain it back, that it really comes together. I didn’t change much of the intent of Sue’s website, but in the end it was transformed by the process we went through.

This was some pro-bono work I undertook on behalf of the Hastings Sporting Car Club (of which I’m a member) – a very small motorsport club based in our area. This was an issue close to us, as one of our own members had been diagnosed recently with advanced Melanoma. The research undertaken by Melanoma Institute Australia was giving him much longed for time to spend with his family and friends, so we wanted to help raise more funds for them. I coordinated the car club’s part of the fundraiser, arranged permits, liaised with media, wrote press releases, articles, and coordinated the social media campaign. Initial articles were published verbatim in the Wauchope Gazette and appeared in edited formats in several other regional papers. The car club’s fundraising efforts raised over $5000 for melanoma research.
We can’t thank you enough for all you have done in your fundraising for the Melanoma Institute. The hours you have put in just to obtain the various permissions was enormous, let alone the media releases and hard work on the day of the rally. Every single newspaper covered the event, as well as follow up articles – an amazing achievement! Cancer truly sucks but the support from friends has been amazing and is very heart warming on sometimes tough days. We will always be thankful for what you did.
It’s so exciting working with people who are passionate about their chosen field or direction, I’m drawn to people who see how they can create change. Chay is one of those people who has such drive for her projects that she really makes you want to sign up! It was a pleasure to be able to provide her with some social media coaching which will accelerate her use of the networks her organisations are part of, and save her lots of time!
Heather has been helping me out with navigating the world of social media that my workplaces are now represented through.
